After Hurricane Katrina, our team came together to solve a problem for Louisiana. We wanted to keep our residents from being “ripped-off” when they were desperate for home repairs. Upon further investigation, we realized this problem was occurring on a larger scale throughout the state, even after recovery efforts were made. Homeowners did not realize that letting unlicensed workers through their door puts them at risk for legal liability and increased fraud, when they are trusting and just trying to get their own problems solved. We want to minimize the usage of the words “fraud” and “residential contractor” in the same sentence, while increasing the integrity and reputation of this industry. We saw the same cycle repeat after Superstorm Sandy in New Jersey and can now see our local solution expanding to other states.
